Rescue Yourself

Do you need to be rescued? Are you locked up?

I used to be in a prison, it was the worst place I’ve ever been. I couldn’t see the sunlight. I wanted out so bad, but I didn’t think there was a way out for so long. I would tell people I was locked in this tower. No one tried to help me. They just affirmed that yes, I did seem to be in a dark cold place. Or wow, your tower does seem to be ugly.

It’s funny how some people can describe to others, that they feel they are in a broken place, and not everyone will want to help that person out of the dismal place they are in. If you tell me you are in a cold dark place, and you are broken, I am dragging you out of there. Just know this about me right now!

My tower was from abuse, marriage to the wrong person, and depression. I had so many locks on the tower door, or so I thought. I never imagined I could ever get out, until someone wanted to free me. I needed a prince to save me. I just imagined he never would want me in the state I was in.

It took me fourteen years to learn and to realize I don’t have to wait for a prince to rescue me. I had to rescue myself if I wanted to survive. I went to the tower door, determined to break the locks that held me in place all of these years. I placed my hands on the door and when I reached through the bars to reach out to the locks to try to break them, the door swung open. Imagine my surprise to find the door wasn’t locked. It had never been locked.

Most often we are in a tower, kept inside a prison of of our own accord.  Thinking we are locked in, when its truly ourselves who are afraid to open the doors holding us back. We hold the power to our lives. We can rescue ourselves at any time we wish. We just have to push on the door to freedom.

People on the outside will agree with your assessment of yourself, because people agree with what you say about yourself. If you think you are in jail, they will too!

See yourself as Free!
