What if you had the chance to be on the Titanic and it hit the iceberg that fateful night? Would you be among the many who jumped in the water? Did you believe that a ship that was built to endure so much and was promised to withstand would truly make it? That it would hold under the pressure? Would you be one of the calm rational voices that day, or would you be a panicked voice in the midst of the storm facing so many individuals?
Every person on the Titanic believed it would arrive in New York City. They boasted about the ship and did not prepare for another course of action should it not make it. This is called Pride.
Unfortunately, the ship sank. It was carrying 2,223 passengers and 1,517 people died that night. Most of the survivors were women, children and members of the higher class who were allowed to get into the few lifeboats on the ship. (2021, Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc.)
Another lie told to the people on the ship, people of wealth matter more than others did. This was simply not true.
Because of lies, pride and lack of planning on this voyage, 1517 people died.
Many people lost their lives in the voyage across the Atlantic Ocean on the Titanic. In the end, whether they were calm or panicked, it did not change the facts of the outcome of the storm. However, it did change the moments during the storm, and for the people around them, those who chose to walk in peace, and trust the maker of the storm knew their destination would be different. So, fear wasn’t on the agenda that day.
If the day comes and you are faced with the end, it doesn’t matter what your storm is. It matters how you face it. There are people around you, watching how you face your storms. Are you trusting in faith or fear?
Don’t let the lies around you affect your storms. Faith means you know the storm is just the water acting up a bit. Fear means you can’t trust the outcome of the storm. We have a choice in which we choose and our reaction, if we choose fear, can prolong the storm. Choose faith and walk in peace.
