There is a country song I love by Rascal Flats called “I’m Moving On.” It talks about closing a chapter in your life when you realize the time to move on is upon you.
I heard it recently and I realized it was time for me to move on. I had reached a new phase in my life that required me to move. “There comes a time, in everyone’s life, when all you can see are the years passing by…” When you realize that you are no longer growing, changing, or making a difference. That is the time to stop and look at where you are and what you hope to accomplish.
I have learned so much and developed into a better person as a result of the past stage in my life. I have a few regrets. There are some things I wish I had done and even a few things I wish I hadn’t done because they caused me pain. I guess when we are looking at the past, we will always find something to regret. Since I am more of a “glass half full” instead of “glass half empty” kind of person, then I must look at the growth I experienced, the friendships I will always cherish, and the knowledge I attained.
We often spend so much time living in the past, or hoping for a better future, that we fail to move on into the role being crafted for our lives this very moment.
The word moving, is an action word, if you are moving towards the life you are destined to have then you can’t spend all your time living in the stagnant past behind you.
The reason ponds have a lot of algae and pond scum are because they are stagnant and not moving. When you have a lake or a river, there is a constant source of stirring happening to keep these bodies of water fresh and alive. Stagnant water smells bad, and it has elements that can hurt you if you immerse yourself in them.
Jesus said He wanted to give us living water. He knew if we weren’t filled with living water, we would become stagnant and develop into pond scum. I never want to become pond scum. So, I decided to move and find a fresh body of water to immerse myself in. That is why I left my job of ten years and I can begin the next phase of my life.
Think about your life after you read this blog and see if there are areas in your life it’s time for you to tell yourself and the whole world “I’m Moving On” and then start packing! Change Your Stars.
