The most eloquent symbol of love is an action. I read this while studying for a bible study. I wondered if this could be true. If I love and care for someone in the manner Jesus did. Am I truly showing love? When we talk about the cross and what Jesus had to endure to become a living sacrifice for us, it always leaves me in awe. I’m amazed that someone thought I was worth dying for.
The beauty of the act of love, Christ has shown to the world is the fact that even though we didn’t deserve it, and to tell the truth we still don’t deserve it. He came, was tortured, maimed and bruised! Why? Because He had to get us to see the depths of what He was willing to sacrifice and endure to show us His love.
There is a movie from 1998, I loved to watch called “Hope Floats” and this is a beautiful story, of a woman who was left heartbroken and disappointed with the people in her life who let her down. She moved to a new town and met someone who fell madly in love with her. He did everything imaginable to win her love. She kept hesitating to accept his love. Just like us, when we have been hurt, we are afraid to trust another person with our heart.
There is a song in that movie called “To make you feel my love” sung by Garth Brooks. Read just a few of the lyrics:
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There is nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
It reminds me of what Christ was willing to do to make sure we felt his love. He gave up everything. Was beaten black and blue. Just to make sure I would embrace the love; he was so freely offering. He gave his life to make me feel His love.
How can I not accept this gift of His? Why would I not want to? He is offering it to you as well, so join me today. It’s a free gift. No strings attached. Just love in the purest form from the person who knows you best and loves you anyway.
