I read a lot of books. I’ve always loved to read but it seems like lately the hunger for knowledge is almost out of control. From the bible to science, literature to fiction, self help and audio books. I even read things about history for instance, “The differences between the bubonic plague and the pneumonic plague and how it affected our society.” I want to learn! I crave insight into the depths of the human brain. All of this to say…I read a lot of books.
More important than my quest for knowledge though is the fact that I am a Christ follower. One who accepts people where they are in life and my prayer is that I am able to shine some light on the path that will lead them to my heavenly Father someday. I am sure of my course and sure of my destiny and purpose!
So what happens when I have questions? What do I do when I wake up asking God, “Who are you really?” This is not due to a lack of studying His word or questions about my personal relationship with Him. In fact, its because of that closeness that I can ask Him. I think He loves my questions because it doesn’t really take long before the answer to my question is answered somehow.
Today I woke up and my heart was a little troubled as I was driving. I had some inner struggles and wondered, as I occasionally do, if I was following the right course for my life. I just wanted reassurance that He hears me and He is happy with my progress and my representation of Him to the world.
So, at the stoplight, I ask Him the question that some might not voice to the creator of the Universe because they’ve yet to understand His desire to be their everything. I could ask Him (we have that kind of relationship) “Who are you really God?”
The song that began playing on the radio told me His answer.
I’ll leave you with the words to the song and a link to hear it if you desire to.
I pray that you are always curious to know more about your Savior and that you never stop talking to your Father.
I AM by Mark Shultz
I AM the maker of the heavens. I AM the bright and morning star.
I AM the breath of all creation, Who always was and is to come.
I AM the One Who walked on water, I AM the One Who calmed the seas,
I AM the miracles and wonder, So come and see, Oh follow me, And you will know that:
I AM the Fount of living water, The risen Son of Man, The Healer of the broken. And when you cry
I AM your Savior and Redeemer, Who bore the sin of man, The Author and Perfecter,
Beginning and the end. Yes I AM! I AM the Spirit deep inside you. I AM the Word upon your heart.
I AM the One Who even knew you Before your birth, before you were… Throughout the earth,
I AM the universe. I AM in every heart. I AM where you are.
I AM the Lord of lords, The King of kings,
The Holy Lamb, Above all things. Yes I AM…
