I heard a song the other day,
He Loves Us was its name.
It talks of his enduring love,
It said his love mimic’s hurricanes.
I found myself speaking out loud,
To the voice inside my head.
I said, “does he really love me?”
Or is he teasing me instead?”
Because life is like a battle
And I’m tossed to and fro.
If we are talking hurricanes,
My life mirrors one I know.
If the God I serve is jealous,
And he loves me like it said.
I wonder if he notices,
I cry sometimes in my bed.
As I think of how heaven met earth,
I know I should not forget.
Jesus came to set me free,
The song said no time for regrets.
I want to believe he loves us,
It’s just sometimes I need more.
All those who say they speak for him,
Have already walked out the door.
