Voices from everywhere,
Tell me what’s what.
They say what I should think,
Some tell me what I should not.
I hear words from the present,
And I hear some from the past.
My brain sits and wonders,
Which voices will last.
They all take their turns,
Shouting with all their might.
Telling me they speak the truth,
Saying “listen, I’m right.”
My heart knows the answers,
So, I listen and stay still.
I try to quiet the voices,
But my emotions still feel.
And sometimes confusion,
Lingers in my brain.
Creeping in with twisted words,
Driving me slowly insane.
But I won’t let the words stay,
I take my thoughts captive.
Since I am a warrior,
There’s no way I can be passive.
I hide the Word in my heart,
So, when confusion lingers.
I’ll think out my thoughts,
And write a poem with my fingers.
Then once I get my thoughts written,
I have it figured out.
I’ll relax in His peace,
Because I know I have no need to doubt.
