New Year, New You

It’s 2024! Have you started making New Years Resolutions yet?

Do you achieve these goals every year, only to let yourself down when you fall short? I sometimes like to make lists, but when I don’t get to the things on my list, I check them off anyway because I can’t stand to have the things looming over my head taunting me at the end of the day.

Every year when a new year starts, I decide that it will be my year to shine. I make goals and plans and often I accomplish the things I set out to do because that is just the kind of person I am. It doesn’t always happen the way I plan. As I get older, however, I am learning that I have less time to make my dreams a reality. It is even more critical that I be intentional with my day. Things I wanted to do ten or fifteen years ago; I am just now accomplishing. It’s not because I didn’t have the skills or knowledge, but it was because I was scared to go for it. Or I let other things or people convince me I wasn’t good enough to accomplish things.

In 2024, I have determined that I will do everything my own way. I won’t hesitate when I have a mission in mind. My dreams are already in mind, and I started setting them in motion at the end of 2023. We often wait until Monday to start a new diet or workout plan. We might even say we should start everything on January 1, when the new year comes. There is no better time than now to have a new you. If you have dreams and goals for your life, don’t wait. Start now. Each dream is doable. Look for one thing you can do today that will put you one step closer to making your dream a reality.

  • Maybe you can start college if you need to learn a skill and you want a degree.
  • Maybe you need to watch some YouTube tutorials if you need to learn how to do something you don’t understand, like digital creation.
  • Maybe you join a gym with a friend if you need accountability for holding to your fitness routines.
  • Maybe you could start writing that book you always dreamed of writing if you wanted to share your story.
  • Maybe you get rid of all the junk food in the house if you feel you need to stop eating it. (Okay, this one might be taking it a little too far).

The possibilities are endless. The New Year is here and the New You will be up to you.
