You act just like your father,
Words I long to hear.
Not because I’m acting careless,
Or being insincere.
For the reasons I must hear it,
Are because It’s my desire.
To emulate his character,
Forever aiming higher.
I know I won’t be perfect,
Or seen without a sin.
But if I’m like my father,
Well, that would make me grin.
For I’m made in his image,
That is exactly what he said.
So daily I strive to make it,
Aiming higher to what I’ve read.
I will try to have his character,
Showing the fruit, it should produce.
I want to hear him say well done,
When my time on earth is through.

One response to “Just Like My Father”
Your poetry is great, not like mine,. May He continue to inspire you in all things to glorify the Son He loves.
